Abstract
1392515 Phenylarsenodithio compound E A H FRIEDHEIM 19 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 33817/72 Heading C2J The compound of formula (and salts and acid addition products thereof) is prepared by reacting about 1 mole of p-melaminyl-phenylarsenoxide with about 2 moles of (CH 3 ) 2 CSH.CHNH 2 -CO 2 H (D – penicillamine), usually in water and/or a C 1-6 alcohol at 20-100‹ C. The acid addition products can be obtained directly by effecting the reaction at a pH of 1 to 4 by addition of HCI, H 2 SO 4 , H 3 PO 4 CH 3 SO 3 H, citric acid or tartaric acid, and the salts are obtained by dissolving the reaction product in water or an alcohol at a pH of 9-10- provided by NaOH, KOH, (C 2 H 5 ) 2 NH, or 1,6 diaminohexane. The compound has filaricidal and trypanocidal properties and may be incorporated into pharmaceutical compositions together with carriers or diluents.
