Abstract
1395614 Automatic exchange systems; information transmission SIEMENS AG 18 May 1972 [19 May 1971] 23317/72 Heading H4K In a telecommunication system in which subscribers with video equipment can by dialling gain connection to a central information station and select a record carrier for reading thereat, each record carrier in addition to video information for transmission to the calling subscriber bears codes which are used to translate a digit subsequently dialled by the subscriber into an address or identity of a record carrier or record carrier section to be selected next. The record carriers may be microfilms, microfiche or diapositives. The codes may be stored in the form of light transmissive and non-transmissive or reflective and non- reflective areas of the carrier. In the embodiment shown a slide container W is rotated until a detector T detects a desired address on the container. The selected slide is projected on to a screen S via a semi-transparent mirror M which allow a television camera K to view an image N for transmission to a calling subscriber. Light and data code areas Z are projected on an array of light sensitive cells which provide at a the addresses of slides which can be selected next. The control unit SA receives a single selection digit dialled by the subscriber and reads one address selected by that digit as the address of the next slide.
