Abstract
1402422 Roof or wall cladding ROOFTILERS (VIC) PTY Ltd 6 July 1972 [8 July 1971] 32020/71 Headings E1B and E1W Sheet metal or plastics cladding elements for roofs or walls have interengaging formations 3 and 7 along opposite edges the first unit being secured to battens by rails through flange 9, and the second and subsequent units being fitted by inserting upstanding lip 3 in slot 7 with the two sheets at an angle and rotating the second sheet into the plane of the first to lock the lip behind an overhanging projection 6 and then nailing the flange 9 of the second sheet to the battens, the upstanding lip being shaped to closely interfit with the slot. The edges of the interengaging formations are slotted so that adjacent tiles in the same row may be interengaged; the centre also being slotted to allow a half tile to be formed by cutting the sheet. The cladding may be secured to an already existing iron roof, with or without the interposition of battens and the space therebetween filled with foam plastics, or to ridge to caves rafters without the use of cross battens, or to a wall by horizontal or vertical battens.
