1414707 Spray producers LAFAYETTE BRASS CO Inc 24 Oct 1973 49650/73 Heading B2F A water sprinkler device 10 comprises an impactor 20, pivotably mounted on a rotary sprinkler head 12 and having surfaces (21), (22) Fig. 3 (not shown), which react with a water jet issuing from the sprinkler head, a spring 23 biasing the impactor to rotate in a direction opposite to the reaction torque of the water jet whereby the impactor oscillates relative to the sprinkler head, and an impact receiver 31 supported by the sprinkler head and disposed for striking engagement by said impactor to receive therefrom and transmit to the sprinkler head impact forces for turning said head and thereby changing the water jet direction, said impact receiver comprising a slidable member (33) Fig. 9, (not shown), which is resiliently engaged by an adjustably preloaded spring (35) and thereby is operable to adjust selectively the intensity of the impact forces transmitted to the sprinkler head for a given level of reaction impulse applied to the impactor by the water jet. The impact receiver is movable relative to the sprinkler head from a position where it is located in the path of impactor movement to a position where it is clear of said path, thereby providing for counter clockwise and clockwise motion respectively of said head, the impactor striking a surface (15) Fig. 3 of an arm 14 extending from a nozzle 13 and a leg 24 of a bracket 18 on head 12 in said clockwise motion. For very low water pressure, spring 35 is fully compressed whereby impactor 20 continuously presses against the impact receiver in counterclockwise head motion. An alternative impact receiver (31A) Fig. 10, (not shown), comprises a screw (37) extending through a threaded hole in an arm 25 on the sprinkler head, a stop (38) on the end of said screw thereby being adjustable relative to the path of impactor movement.
