Abstract
1421097 Cable anchor P A CORNELL 14 June 1974 [15 June 1973] 26535/74 Heading D1T [Also in Divisions E2 and H2] A cable clamp comprises a part-cylindrical head 15 with a tail 10 and a yoke 20 with a tail 11, the head having a diametral bore 19 which is aligned with apertures 32, 33 in the yoke to permit cable insertion when the clamp is in the open position, the yoke having recesses 28, 29 on its inner surface to receive the deformed portions of the cable C when the clamp is closed. The recesses 28, 29 may be localised or may extend over the entire axial length of the yoke. Recess 29 may be omitted. In opening or closing the clamp fingers 24, 25 may be wedged apart by a tooth 18 which supports the yoke in the open position and holds it closed prior to bolting of tails 10, 11 together to the support A. A slot 16 is milled in the top of head 15 to receive the end of a key or retainer screw 17 through yoke 20. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown) the tooth 18 is omitted and the slot 16 and screw 17 are replaced by a recess 16A extending the full length of the yoke and a screw 17A near the left-hand end of the recess, the screw being retracted to allow the clamp to open or tightened to lock the clamp in the closed position. The cable C may be a conductor of an electric cable.
