Abstract
1421337 Measuring electrically R GUILLEUX 15 Nov 1972 [15 Nov 1971 31 Dec 1971] 52690/72 Headings G1N and G1U. Apparatus for detecting changes of a sensed quantity e.g. temperature comprises a sensing element 1 in the form of a temperature-sensitive resistor or a chain of diodes, an amplifying transistor 4 receiving potential variations due to the sensed temperature changes and providing corresponding potential changes to a detector device AD2 and via RC circuit 9, 10 to a high input impedance active element in the form of an F.E.T. 12 from which an output voltage is fed to a threshold detector AD1 and a voltage is fed back by a negative feedback path F-B to the base of transistor 4 whereby the detector AD2 will receive signals indicative of rate of change of the sensed temperature while detector AD1 senses the crossing of a predetermined threshold by the sensed temperature. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 2 the sensing element is an ionization chamber 1a including a radio-active source 1b from which the output potential is connected via the baseemitter path of transistor 15 to an amplifier in the form of F.E.T. 16 and thence to point H to which an alarm device is connected to detect rapid changes. The output potential is fed also to F.E.T. 12 via zener 17, to provide a voltage offset, and R-C delay 9, 10 the output voltage from this F.E.T. being fed back to the base of F.E.T. 16 to compensate slow changes of output potential from the ionization chamber.
