Abstract

1433122 Pyrazol-5-one derivatives BAYER AG 16 April 1974 [17 April 1973] 16508/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Compounds of formula wherein R is H, alkyl or amino ; R1 is alkyl or alkenyl, or alkyl or aralkyl optionally nuclearly substituted with one or two alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, alkenoxy, halogen, nitro, cyano or trifluoromethyl radicals; X is methylene or dimethylene optionally with alkyl; Y is a single direct bond, or O or S, providing that when X is methylene, Y is a bond; and Z is aryl optionally nuclearly substituted with three halogens or one or two halogen, trifluoromethyl, allkenyl, alkyl, alkoxy or alkenoxy radicals; or with an alkylamino, dialkylamino, trifluoromethoxy, nitro. cyano, carbamoyl, alkylcarbamoyl, dialkylcarbamoyl, sulphamyl, alkylsulphamyl, dialkysulphamyl or -SO n – alkyl (n = 0 to 2) radical and the nitrogen of which may form part of a ring and also optionally one or two alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl radicals; or a fused, saturated or unsaturated 5-, 6- or 7-membered ring optionally containing a side chain and/or two O or S atoms, are prepared by reacting a hydrozine of formula with an acetic acid derivative of formula in which X1 is hydroxy, alkoxy, aralkoxy, amino or alkylamino, R1 is as defined above and either Y1 is H and Y2 is nitrile or a radical of formula wherein Y3 is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl, or Y1 + Y2 are the group wherein Y4 is alkoxy, aralkoxy, alkylmercapto, aralkylmercapto or amino, optionally in the presence of an inert solvent and of a basic or acid catalyst. The optical antipodes of the compounds of Formula I may be prepared by known methods or by reacting an optically pure hydrazine of formula Z-Y-X-NH-NH 2 with an acetic acid derivative of Formula III, wherein the symbols are as defined above.
