Abstract
1438583 Vibrating conveyer furnace; drying granular and like material V P SHULIKA J N KHAZHIN J F YAKIMENKO and A V SAVCHENKO 18 Oct 1973 48601/73 Headings F4B and F4G In drying or heat treatment furnaces generally circular vibratory troughs are mounted for slight radial movement on brackets secured to vertical vibratory sleeves, and are heated by the passage of electrical current through them. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, an annular trough 1, closed at the top, is mounted on a sleeve 4 carry 4 vibrators 5. The vibrators are connected in pairs, so that material fed to the trough 1 through an inlet 19 is moved clockwise round the trough by one pair of vibrators, and moved anti-clockwise by the other pair of vibrators to be discharged through an outlet 20. An insulator breaks the continuity of the annular trough and the outlets for gas or material and the inlet for material are insulated from the trough so that it may itself form a heating element. In another embodiment, Fig. 21, a helical trough 36 is mounted for radial movement on a central vertical sleeve 37, mounted on springs 41 for movement by vibrators 38. The materials inlet 39, materials outlet 40, and gas inlets and outlets 58, 59 are insulated from the conduits attached to them, so that the trough 36, which is insulated from its radial supporting brackets, forms the heating element. A furnace having a helical open topped trough 62, Fig. 24, formed in several sections, has an outer vertical vibrating sleeve 76 supporting the trough sections by radial brackets. Air entering between the outer furnace wall 77 and the sleeve 76 flows down channels 84 attached to the sleeve to issue into the furnace interior. Part of the material passing to the outlet 73 is directed down one of the channels 84 to form a dry layer in the trough before the charging inlet 72. Each section of the trough is connected separately to the power supply, so that the temperature in different regions of the furnace may be controlled. The filling shoot for a helical channel furnace, Fig. 18, has concave side walls and an oblique bottom 54 so that it merges smoothly into the channel.
