Abstract

1439047 Photo-electric data retrieval systems RICOH KK 11 Sept 1973 [12 Sept 1972] 42624/73 Heading G1A The direction of travel of a roll-film in a projection-type data-retrieval apparatus is determined by the phase-sense of pulses from a pair of photoelectric cells successively obscured by a mark beside each film frame. In Fig. 1 the mark in view by cells 23, 24 through mirrors 25, 27 and lens 26 alongside the projection system. AUTOMATIC KEYBOARD CONTROL. Fig. 3, (not shown). As shown, the cell signals are fed through logarithmic amplifiers (29), (30), (to compensate for variations in illumination due to lamp voltage variation or dirt on the “optics”) and added in a differential amplifier (31). The resultant is fed to positive and negative channels, each comprising a switching circuit (32), gate (34) and differentiating and shaping circuits (43), (44) to OR gate (45). The gate in the appropriate channel is opened by comparator (38) responsive to the setting of keyboard (40), and UP-DOWN counter (41) to control the film-drive-motor (not shown). Alternative manual positioning is provided by switch (39) and potentiometer (42) over-riding the comparator output.
