Abstract

1442157 Nuclear power plant HOCHTEMPERATUR-REAKTORBAU GmbH 30 July 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 36059/73 Heading G6C A nuclear power plant employs an HTR (e.g. a helium – cooled, graphite – moderated pebble-bed reactor), operating in a closed gascooling circuit with a gas turbo set, components of the heat-exchanger and utilization apparatus being accommodated in the concrete pressure vessel 3 with the turbo set 10, 11, 12 arranged horizontally below the rector 4 and recuperators 26 (Fig. 3) and coolers 27 arranged radially about the vessel axis in some of a plurality of vertical pods 15-22 such that the recuperators and coolers define two groups in parallel. As shown, the recuperators and precoolers 27 are provided in pods 15-17 and 18-20, with intermediate coolers (36) (Fig. 2, not shown) accommodated in the lower regions of these pods. After-heat removal systems 58 are accommodated in the outer pods 21, 22. Arrangements of the coolant ducting are described in detail.
