1447048 Covers for pipe Joints RAYCHEM CORP 5 Dec 1973 [8 Dec 1972] 56697/72 Heading F2G Apertures in a heat shrinkable sheet 10 are made shrinkable about a branch pipe 12, by forming them with upstanding heat-shrinkable rims 8, 9. To secure the sheet, the overlapping parts may be adhered by a contact adhesive or, in another form, having a single aperture (7, Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) the opposite edges of the sheet are connected together. The rims may be formed before the sheet is made heat recoverable, e.g. by vacuum forming and cutting. Alternatively, they may be made in a heat shrinkable sheet at any temperature by pushing an over-size rounded mandrel through the hole. The sheet may be of a cross-linked crystalline polymer or copolymer of ethylene or a vinyl halide or of a cross-linked polyurethane, nitrile rubber or fluoro elastomer.
