Abstract

1447507 AFC systems SIEMENS AG 16 Aug 1973 [22 Sept 1972] 38764/73 Heading H3A A cricuit comprises two controlled oscillator stages 4, 41, and a switching arrangement S 3 for periodically switching between the outputs of the two stages wherein, when one of the oscillator stages is free-running for a time interval to supply an output to a load at 5, the other is frequency stabilized for a terminal part of the said time interval by phase comparing at 2 a reduced frequency component of the oscillator with the output of a reference oscillator 1 to supply an error control voltage to a varactor diode in the oscillator stage. The controlled and reference oscillator outputs may be applied via an adjustable frequency converter or divider to the phase discriminator 2. The controlled oscillators may operate at different frequencies as in Fig. 2 or at the same frequency (Fig. 3, not shown) in which case switching is done at a slow rate as to minimize incidental phase modulation.
