Abstract
1462168 Dry beverage flavour compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 16 July 1975 [17 July 1974] 29855/75 Heading C6E A process for preparing a rapidly dissolvable dry beverage flavour mix involves forming a mixture of a beverage flavour base and sugar such that the mixture has a weight ratio of flavour base: sugar of from 0.03:1 to 0.15:1 and a total solids content of from 75% to 95% by weight, drying the mixture as by vacuum drying or freeze-drying, to form a stable foam of a final moisture content less than 3% by weight and grinding the stable foam to form discrete dry beverage flavour particles. The particles may be screened and agglomerated by a conventional technique. The Examples describe the preparation of the dry beverage flavour particles from mixtures of commercially available orange flavour base, granulated sucrose and water, and commercially available cola flavour base (containing phosphoric acid), monosodium orthophosphate, granulated sucrose and water, respectively. When tap water and ice cubes were added to a glass containing the flavour particles together with an operable amount of aluminosilicate molecular sieves loaded with CO 2 , there was produced a flavourful, fully carbonated beverage.
