Abstract
1462820 Toothed gearing DAVID BROWN TRACTORS Ltd 27 Oct 1975 [18 Dec 1974] 54584/74 Heading F2Q Gearing for converting a vehicle with a single power-driven axle to four-wheel-drive comprises a casing 10 adapted to be partially inserted through an aperture 11 in a easing 12 of a vehicle’s gear-box, gears 24, 27, 26 carried by vertically spaced shafts 14, 15, 16 respectively, an output coupling flange 30 secured to the lowermost shaft 16 outside the vehicle’s gear-box, and clutch means adapted to disengageably connect the uppermost shaft 14 to the output shaft 36 of the vehicle’s gear-box. The clutch means comprise a sleeve 39 slidable axially on splines 38 on the output shaft 36 and carrying teeth 41 which are adapted to engage clutch teeth 37 on the shaft 14. The clutch is controlled by a manually operable selector fork 43 actuated by an arm 49.
