1466652 Dental implants and tools I HERSKOVITS and R HERSKOVITS 8 Jan 1975 [9 May 1974] 742/75 Heading A5R An endoosseous implant comprises a base 1″, 1″‘ from which extend two upstanding, spaced side plates 1, 1′, said plates being shaped so as to be capable of being received in two slots formed in a dental arch portion of the jaw bone by means of rotary disc cutters, and being such as to become anchored in the jaw bone upon healing of the bone, said base being adapted to receive one or more stumps 5, 6 which can serve as artificial teeth or mountings for artificial teeth. The stumps may be screw-threaded on portions of reduced diameter 5′, 6’ for reception in screwthreaded holes 2, 3. The shape of the side plates is preferably semi-circular with holes 4 through which bone tissue may grow. A suitable material for making the implant is spectrographically pure tantalum. The side plates may be made a thickness of 0.4 mm and the base plates a thickness of 0.8 mm. Suitable rotary disc cutters are illustrated in Figs. 1, 2, 9 and 10, (not shown).
