Abstract
1466727 Two-part couplings SOCAPEX 16 May 1974 [18 May 1973] 21895/75 Heading H2E A connector for circuit board edges comprises a body 1 with a slide portion 6, a plurality of terminals 2 mounted in the body, each with a spring portion 5 having one end 10 engaged in an aperture 7 of the slide portion 6. A circuit board is inserted into the slide portion 6 causing the latter to move in the direction F; this movement flexes the spring portion 5 until the end 10 and the other end 12 engaging the terminal 2 are aligned when the end 10 is able to move off the face 11 of the aperture 7 and engage a contact pad on the board if at the point of engagement, the slide is substantially at the end of its movement and so no sliding between the end 10 and pad occurs. The slide portion has two lips (8, Fig. 1, not shown) which are spread apart by the board and so can pass clear of a boss (9) in the body when the slide portion 6 is moved, movement being prevented if no board or a too-thin board is inserted. The slide portion may have an aperture (13, Figs. 6 and 7) containing a locking ball (14) which engages in a recess (16) on the board to ensure that the board and slide portion move together during insertion and withdrawal. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown) the aperture face 11 has a step engaging the end 10, the end in use overriding the step to spring against the board pad with an impact.
