Abstract

1467437 Switching systems for consuming devices LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 4 March 1974 [16 May 1973] 23268/73 Heading H2H A switching circuit for a load 23 comprises supply lines 11, 12 for connection to a D.C. source, capacitors 16, 17 connecting opposite ends of an electromagnet 21 to the supply line 11, discharge resistors 18, 19, a two-position contact 15 operable by the electromagnet and a normally open switch 14. When the switch 14 is closed the capacitor 16 charges instantaneously but the capacitor 17 charges slowly via the electromagnet 21 which changes over the contact 15 and a contact 22. On release of the switch 14 a permanent magnet 24 holds the contacts in position and the capacitors are discharged via the resistors 18, 19. On re-closing the switch 14, the capacitor 17 charges instantaneously and the capacitor 16 charges slowly via the electromagnet 21, the charging current being opposite to the charging current for the slow charging of the capacitor 17. The contacts 15, 22 therefore revert to their initial positions.
