Abstract

1476649 Electrical couplings AMP Inc 2 Sept 1974 [1 Oct 1973] 38232/74 Heading H2E A connector having a housing and attachable cover 18 comprises wire carriers 84, 86, 88, 90, 92 slidable in the cover 18 each carrier having at least one wire receiving bore and being movable from a retracted position (carrier 86) to an inserted position (carrier 84), whereupon any wire carried is forced into a slot 64 in a terminal held in the housing 10 (any insulation on the wire being sliced through) and thereby connected to the terminal. The carriers are inserted against the resilience of straps 96 by which they may be integrally joined to the cover 18. After insertion the carriers may be retracted against the friction of engagement by manipulating a screwdriver between edges 100 and corresponding slots 102, 104. Terminals may be isolated by tearing off tabs 52. The wire receiving bores may be blind (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown).
