Abstract
1481896 Vehicle latching/locking mechanism FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 21 Feb 1975 [7 Feb 1974] 7458/75 Heading E2A In a vehicle boot lid, in which latching and locking mechanisms are located between inner and outer panels, the lock mechanism projects through a central, shielding panel and is retained against longitudinal and twisting movement by a first clip engaging the end of the lock mechanism housing projecting through the shielding panel and a second clip engaging the lock mechanism between the shield and outer panels. As shown in Fig. 4, parts 12, 14 of outer and inner panels 11, 13 respectively are bridged by a panel 15 forming a pocket 17 and supporting a shielding panel 37. The latching mechanism 18 having a latch bolt 21 and lock mechanism 19a are mounted in pocket 17 and connected by shaft 29. Lock mechanism 19a is retained in position by a first spring clip 44 engaging shielding panel 37 and a second spring clip 36 holding tightly together the flange 24 of the lock mechanism housing and outer panel 12.
