Abstract

1511622 Heat-treating steel sheet ITALSIDER SpA 9 Feb 1976 [10 Feb 1975] 04889/76 Heading C7A [Also in Division B3] Steel sheets of 6-80mm thickness and characterized by a minimum yield P and of 35 Kg/mm2, minimum tensile strength 55 Kg/mm2, minimum elongation 25%, minimum impact strength 4 Kg/cm2 (transverse) and 8 Kg/mm2 (longitudinal), both over the range -80‹C to +100 C, are produced from a composition containing in wt, per cent. C 0À04-0À09 Mn 1À3 -2 Si 0À15-0À45 S # 0À02 P # 0À025 Nb 0À01-0À06 Al 0À005-0À05 Mo 0À1-0À45 Ni -0À4 Ce -0À05 by heating the slab to 1000-1150‹C and rolling to a thickness 2 to 5 times that finally required. The intermediate material is then cooled to 950-820‹C, and further rolled to final thickness under such conditions that the entry temperature to the final pass is 740-850‹C. The product may either be force cooled to 400‹C at #10‹C/sec., or spraycooled to 580-620‹C and then allowed to cool in air. The steel is used for forming into pipes, and also for tanks.
