Abstract
1516432 Scheimpflug correction devices SINGER CO 23 April 1976 [1 May 1975] 16524/76 Heading G2J In a system for correction (particularly erection) of an image-plane which is tilted with respect to the axis of an optical system, a relay lens is arranged with its principal plane(s) tilted at a fixed angle to the system axis but able to rotate about said axis. In a practical form it is recognised that, by such rotation, the second image-plane produced by said relay lens may be varied in tilt with respect to the system axis over a wide range. A second tilted relay lens is arranged to rotate about the system axis, and the angle of tilt of said second lens is arranged to produce an erect third image for a particular tilt angle of the second image. The first lens is therefore rotated until the second image has the desired tilt and the second lens is then rotated to the correct position to produce an erect third image. As shown in Fig. 7 an intermediate tilted image from an objective is located at a field lens W and enters the first rotatable lens, the second intermediate image of desired tilt being located at field lens Y, and the erect image being produced by the second rotatable lens. Each rotatable lens comprises a pair of “thick lens elements” B, C; D, E; of opposed tilt, separated by field lens X, Z. This maintains the axial ray on the system axis.
