Abstract

1517524 Image pick-up tubes SONY CORP 11 June 1975 [14 June 1974] 25033/75 Heading HID An image pick-up tube target comprises transparent signal electrode 2, transparent ZnO layer (3) of sheet resistance 106 to 1015#/square, and a P-type photoconductive layer (4) comprising Se with As and S, or comprising Sb 2 S 3 . The ZnO layer may be 102 to 105 thick and formed by sputtering. Fig. 5 (not shown) includes electrode (31), ZnO layer (32), amorphous Se layer (33) containing As and S additives, (e.g. 5 to 25 wt. per cent As 2 S 3 ), to impede crystallization, and optionally Te additions (t) to increase the long wavelength response, and optional Sb 2 S 3 layer (34). The target may be included in a colour pick-up tube (Fig. 3, not shown) comprising red, green, blue filter elements F, glass plate (11), index electrode elements A … A n and B 1 … B n , zinc oxide layer (12) and p./c. layer (13), layer (12) permitting wider separation (e.g. 7 Á) of the electrode elements. Characteristics are discussed w.r.t. Figs. 2, 6, 7, 9 and 10 (not shown). Diode characteristics are exhibited (Fig. 7) by the device of Fig. 8 (not shown) including Au layer (40) on the doped Se layer (33), and Al layer (41).
