Abstract
1522474 Mounting bristles IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 July 1975 [7 Aug 1974 13 Dec 1974] 34783/74 and 53947/74 Heading A4K [Also in Divisions B2, B5, C1, C3 and F2. An adhesive composition contains a latex of a neoprene, an acrylic polymer or copolymer or a vinylidene chloride polymer or copolymer and an aqueous solution of a urea – and/or melamine – formaldehyde resin mixed in a weight ratio (based on the dispersions) of 5:95 to 95:5. There may also be present an acidic catalyst in an amount insufficient to precipitate the latex. In Example 6 100 pbw of a commercial 67% aqueous UF resin is mixed with 10-25 pbw of a neoprene latex and 11À5-16 pbw of formic acid, and optionally extended with gypsum; the mixture is used to bond bristles into the metal ferrules of brushes.
