Abstract
1522785 Accelerometers BRœEL & KJAER A/S 25 March 1977 [29 March 1976] 12590/77 Heading G1N A transducer for measuring linear acceleration comprises a stepped, circular base 1 Fig. 1 with a central slot 9 into which is forced the cross-member of a T-shaped plate 2, the narrower faces of plate 2 carrying two Piezo-electric elements 3 and seismic masses 4, held together by a spring. cylinder 5 and covered by a housing 7. The Piezoelectric elements 3 are polarized in a direction parallel to the axis. The base 1 is attached to a test body whose axial acceleration produces a voltage across each of the elements 3 due to the resulting shear stress. To measure angular acceleration about the axis the Piezo-electric elements are polarized in a direction perpendicular to the axis.
