Abstract
1525740 Rotary positive displacement fluid machines NIPPON PISTON RING KK and TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK 12 Dec 1975 [13 Dec 1974(3)] 51117/75 Heading F1F In a rotary vacuum pump or compressor having a rotor 40 eccentrically located within a cylindrical chamber defining by a housing 10, flexible sealing plates 31, 32 are clamped between the housing 10 and end-plates 21, 22, the latter having recesses 21a, 22a corresponding in shape to the cylindrical chamber, and subjected to pressure forces exceeding those generated within the chamber to press the sealing plates against the rotor. As shown in Fig. 4, the recesses are connected to the outlet passage 12 via passages 10a, 21b, 22b. In the case of a vacuum pump the recesses may communicate with the atmosphere via passages in end-plates 21, 22. The recesses may be pressurized to a predetermined pressure by compressed air introduced into the recesses via passages closed by checkvalves, Fig. 6 (not shown). The recesses may be lined by flexible bags which are either filled via check-valves Fig. 7 (not shown) or sealed prior to introduction Fig. 8 (not shown). Alternatively the sealing plates may be urged against the rotor by annular wavy springs Fig. 9 (not shown). The rotor, as shown, has a plurality of radial sliding vanes.
