Abstract
1528188 Adjustable backrests ISRINGHAUSEN OHG Gebr 11 Nov 1975 [16 Nov 1974] 46533/75 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] Inadvertent disengagement of the teeth of a backrest adjustment device is prevented by engagement of an operating lever 13, 14 with a bearing 19 on the seat mounting bracket 4. The backrest frame 5 is pivotally mounted by a pin 11 on an element 12 pivotally mounted by a pin 15 on the bracket 4. The release lever being mounted on the element 12 for movement about the pin 11. On upwards movement of the release lever, surfaces 24, 25 on the lever and element are brought into contact and a shoulder 18 on the lever is moved out of engagement with the bearing to allow the pin 11 to pivot about the pin 15 and hence lift the teeth 8 of the backrest away the teeth 9 of the seat mounting bracket. In a second embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown) a pair of shoulders (37, 38) on the lever engage a pair of arcs (41, 40) on the bearing to prevent disengagement of the teeth.
