Abstract

1528355 Cyclopropane derivatives SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 1 Dec 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 52224/74 Addition to 1437987 Heading C2C Cyclopropane derivatives of the general formula wherein R1 and R2 each represents a halogen atom; R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a cyano group; R4 represents a phenyl group optionally substituted by a phenoxy group; and n is an integer from 2 to 5 are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with a compound of formula wherein of the groups X and Y, one represents a halogen atom and the other represents a hydroxy group; preferably one of the X and Y represents a chlorine atom and the other a hydroxy group, and the reaction is carried out in the presence of a hydrogen chloride acceptor. Examples describe the preparation of alphacyano – 3 – phenoxybenzyl – 2 – (2,2 – dichlorovinyl) – 3 – spirobutane – cyclopropane carboxylate and 3 – phenoxybenzyl – 2 – (2,2- dichlorovinyl) – 3 – spirobutane – cyclopropane- 1-carboxylate. The compounds have pesticidal properties.
