Abstract

1529234 Valves HERMANN RAPPOLD & CO GmbH 4 Dec 1975 [5 Dec 1974] 49847/75 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A slide damper for a gas duct has a diaphragm closure plate 19 that can be moved from an open position outside the damper housing 1 (Fig. 6) through an opening 35 in the housing into a shut position inside the housing (Fig. 7). A plate 71 operated by a shaft 74 can open or seal the opening 35. The damper housing has a fixed seating 6 and a movable seating 7 which is displaceable in the axial direction of the gas duct, and in the open position of the slide damper is maintained in direct contact with the seating 6 by peripheral springs (14), Fig. 4 (not shown). The movable seating can be withdrawn from the fixed seating by hydraulic actuating cylinder (53), Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown). With the slide damper open the chamber 50 is closed by the plate 71. Gas escaping from seatings 6 and 7 may be allowed to build up to give a pressure balance with the interior of the gas duct or may be extracted by a fan via connections (51), Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively the chamber 50 may be pressurized by an inert gas. To shut the gas duct, the opening 35 is uncovered and the movable seating 7 retracted and the slide damper conveyed through the opening 35 between the seatings 6 and 7. Finally the seating 7 is pressed by the peripheral springs against the slide damper. The opening 35 remains uncovered to prevent any build up of pressure in the chamber 50. In a further embodiment the opening 35 is closed by an hydraulically actuated sliding plate (36), Fig. 4 (not shown).
