Abstract

Apparatus for transmitting a rotary motion from an input shaft 13 to an output shaft 11 inclined at a fixed angle to it in which there are provided on the input and output shafts drums which rotate with the shafts in each of which are formed a plurality of bores 16, 17 parallel to the particular shaft around the access of the shaft. Angled rigid rods 12 which slide freely in the bores 16, 17 have their ends inserted in corresponding bores in the two drums, the rods 12 being bent through the angle between the shafts 13, 11. At least three and preferably eight rods 12 are provided. The apparatus is described in its application to providing drive for an electroplating drum and it may be covered by a protective flexible pipe 18. Electroplating current may be passed through the rods 12 or through a separate cable disposed centrally with respect to the rods 12.
