Abstract

1,007,304. Spray – producers. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES OF AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND Ltd. Sept. 3, 1964 [Sept. 16, 1963], No. 36128/64. Heading B2F. In a nozzle for producing a fan-shaped jet and comprising two flat parallel spaced plates 4, 5, the inlet is an elliptically shaped aperture 11 in the plate 4 whilst the outlet is defined by parts of the facing surfaces of the plates and an elongated flexible member 12 disposed therebetween. This member comprises a wire 13 covered in part by rubber tubing and is so shaped and placed between the plates that it borders part of the inlet aperture 11 and has straight angularly separated arms 18. The breadth of the nozzle fan-shaped jet may be controlled by inserting the ends of the wire 13, which are bent, into any one pair of pairs of holes 14-17 in the plate 4. The spacing between the plates 4, 5 is limited by a set-screw 6 which engages in either of two threaded apertures 7, 8 formed in a clamp constituted by a plate 9 bolted to the plate 4 in fixed relation thereto. The resilience of the rubber tubing of the member 12 maintains the plate 5 against the screw 6. By moving this screw from aperture 7 to 8 the plate 5 may be tilted with respect to the plate 4 to vary the character of the jet. The aperture 11 may be circular, the inlet tube 10 being attached perpendicularly to the plate 4 for this purpose.
