1,020,464. Lifejackets. BERNHARDT APPARATEBAU G.m.b.H., W. HARMS, and J. BERNHARDT, [trading as BERNHARDT APPARATEBAU G.m.b.H. & CO.]. July 6, 1964 [July 6, 1963], No. 27721/64. Heading B7U. [Also in Division A3] A lifejacket for use with a parachute harness 42 comprises two independently inflatable superposed float members 5, 6 each having a collar and chest part on a carrier part 1 made fast to the user’s body, such that the parachute harness can be put on between the upper and lower float members and the upper member 5 be inflated without hindrance by the harness. The upper float member 5 comprises a pair of chest wings 9 and a collar part 7. The covering of float member 5 consists of two flaps 30, 31 which are closed at their lower edges by pressbuttons 32. The lower flap 30 is guided by a catch 33 on a loop 34 which loop in the packed condition lies between flaps 26 and 30 (Fig. 7, not shown) and is made fast by press-button 35. When upper float member 5 is inflated, pressbuttons 32 burst open and release flap 31. Lower float member 6 is covered by a flap 14 secured to carrier 1 by press-buttons 15.
