Abstract

1,021,836. Power driven brushes. O. HUEBNER. Dec. 18, 1962 [April 28, 1962; Sept. 29, 1962], No. 47811/62. Heading A4K. [Also in Divisions A5 and B4] A multi-purpose power driven toilet instrument has a battery operated electric motor and interchangeable working heads which enable it to be a vibratory toothbrush or massage appliance or a rotary dry shaver or manicuring appliance. A motor shaft 11 may drive an unbalanced disc 9 causing the whole instrument to vibrate and the vibration is transmitted through a flattened portion 15 to tooth-brush 1. To lessen the vibration transmitted to the user’s hand a cylindrical wire hand guard may surround the casing and be attached thereto at its base (Fig. 22, not shown). Motor 4 is driven by battery 7 or, in another form, (Fig. 4, not shown) by an accumulator provided with a re-charging unit. The tooth-brush may be detachably mounted on a leaf-spring (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) on an alternative end cap 3. The end cap 3 may also be replaced by a cap having an axial socket for receiving vibratory massage tools (Figs. 7-12, not shown). Various tools may be fitted directly on a shaft 11 in place of disc 9. Thus, the end cap may be replaced by a cap formed as a dry shaver head having cutters driven by shaft 11 (Figs. 13-16, not shown). Rotary manicuring tools (Figs. 17-21, not shown) are also driven directly by shaft 11.
