Abstract

Adhesive compositions comprise a halosulphated polyolefin, a halogenated polyolefin and a polyisocyanate. The halosulphonated polyolefin may be a chlorosulphonated polyethylene, polypropylene, polyisobutylene or olefin copolymer. The halogenated polyolefin may be a chlorinated, brominated or fluorinated olefin polymer or copolymer, e.g. of ethylene and propylene. Specified isocyanates are triphenyl methane triisocyanate, 3,31-dimethyldiphenyl -4,41 – diisocyanate and 3,31 – dimethoxydiphenyl -4,41 – diisocyanate. The adhesives may be used as auxiliary adhesives when bonding metals to rubbery olefin copolymers with a halosulphonated polyolefin/polyisocyanate adhesive.
