Abstract
A wear resistant wire cloth for a paper making machine is made by plasma jet spraying a metal, metal carbide or metal oxide on to a wire mesh screen. The spray material in the form of a powder of a particle size 5-75 microns may be Cr, Mo, W, Ti, Co, steel, WC, ZrC, TaC, Al2O3 or BeO. Spraying is effected with a conventional plasma jet gun and the wire mesh is supported on a metal support, one side only of the mesh being coated. The wire mesh may be stainless steel or copper alloys such as brasses or bronzes.ALSO:A wear resistant paper drying screen for a paper making machine is made by plasma jet spraying a metal, metal carbide or metal oxide onto a wire mesh screen.
