Abstract

1,065,117. Sliding clasp fasteners. GIUMENANSTALT. July 10, 1964 [July 11, 1963], No. 28598/64. Heading E2S. A slider for a sliding clasp fastener has a slider body comprising two parts 1, 2 defining between them a guide channel 3 for the fastener stringers the slider body carrying a lockting spring 12 and a movable lug 16 having a pull tab for controlling the locking spring, the two parts being joined along a plane parallel to the general plane of the two parts and said locking spring being disposed between the two parts and having an end which is movable in the region of said plane of joining from an unlocked position to one side of said guide channel to a locking position in said guide channel, and means for securing the two parts together. As shown the two parts 1, 2 are riveted together and the spring is contained in a recess 11 in the part 1; the lower part 1 includes a wing bordered by a flanged edge 6 and a wedge member 4 and the upper part 2 includes a wing bordered by a flanged edge 7 and a wedge member 5, the channel 3 being defined by the wings, flanged edges and wedge members. The spring is wound round the rivet 9 which secures the parts together and one end portion 13 is trapped while the other has a bend 14 and its end 15 is normally in the channel 3. The lug 16 slides in a slot in the part 2 and a pin 17 carried by the lug penetrates a longitudinal slot 18 in the parts 1, 2 to engage the bend 14 of the spring so that movement of the lug from an intermediate position in either direction causes the end 15 to be retracted from the channel. The pull tab is either directly engaged with the lug or indirectly via a wire loop. In a modification the lug is U- shaped and slides in slots in both of the parts 1, 2.
