Abstract
1,065,201. Compressed gas containers. REYNOLDS TUBE CO. Ltd. March 31, 1964 [April 5, 1963], No. 13596/63. Heading F4P. The internally screw-threaded tubular neck (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), of a compressed gas container 1 is engaged by a plug (13) located wholly within the neck and containing a discharge valve (22) operable by means inserted into the open mouth of the neck and serving to connect ducts (21, 19, 16) within the plug (13). The valve member (22) is unseated by gas pressure on unscrewing a mushroom-shaped member (24) mounted in a nut (23). A conventional bursting disc (28) allows pressure to be relieved through bores (30), Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification the pressure of gas acting on the inner side of the valve (239), Fig. 4 (not shown), through duct (216) is reduced by an orifice (234) controlled by reducing valve (132) biased to its open position by spring (136) against the closing action of gas pressure admitted to its underside through a bore (133a) in the stem (133). The discharge valve (239) is unseated against a spring (240) and the gas pressure by a bayonet-type actuator (242).
