1,067,658. Floating oil storage tanks. SOC. D’ETUDES ET D’EQUIPEMENTS D’ENTREPRISES. March 17, 1966 [April 20, 1965], No. 11859/66. Heading E1H. An oil storage tank consists of a circular reinforced concrete hollow ring (3) supporting a vertical concrete skirt (4) lined internally with a protective metal sheet (5) and covered by a floating roof (7). First the ring (3) is constructed in a shallow bed (2, Fig. 1 not shown) whilst the bed is kept dry, and subsequently floated to a deeper bed (1, Fig. 2 not shown) constituting the final construction site. The float gradually sinks as the skirt is constructed thereon, and finally the floating roof (7) is added.
