Abstract

1,070,732. Catalytic lighters. FLAMINAIRE MARCEL QUERCIA. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963], No. 31457/64. Heading F4F. The gas in a lighter is ignited by a charge of hydrogen peroxide fed to a catalyst in the gas stream. Initial depression of the lever 19 (arrow F) causes the arms 18 to move the piston 17, peroxide container 1 and piston 12 as a unit downwardly to open the valve 8 on the butane or other gas container 5 thereby allowing gas to pass through conduits 13, 14 and 16 to the burner 2. Further depression of the lever 19 causes piston 17 to compress the resilient container 1 to bring parts 31, 32 to enable a charge of peroxide to be fed via conduits 34, 35 and tube 4 to a catalyst pellet in the burner 2 adjacent the gas outlet. When the lever 19 is in the position shown the peroxide container 1 is vented to atmosphere and the gas container valve is closed.
