Abstract

1,078,363. Road traffic signals on vehicles. SWF – SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAU G.m.b.H. Jan. 5, 1965 [Feb. 14, 1964], No. 434/65. Heading G4Q. A vehicle signalling system adapted to supply direction indicating lights 4 and 5 and to give warning signals (flare operation) using one or more existing pairs of lights, is characterized in that a common flasher unit is used for both signals and that the flare switch 2 is connected between the flasher 1 and the turn indicator switch 3. In Fig. 1 the output of the flasher normally passes via contacts 12 and 13 to the switch 3 and lights 4 or 5. The brake lights 7 and 8 are connected to respective contacts 23 and 22 of brake switch 6. When switch 2 is operated terminal 26 is connected to terminal 13 to supply one output from the flasher 1 to brake light 8, and terminal 12 is connected to terminal 23 to connect another output from the flasher to brake light 7. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the brake switch has a single contact and energizes a relay which energizes the lamps. The warning system may be made operable by switch means responsive to the ignition, the hand brake, or the speedometer, so that it can be used only when the vehicle is stationary.
