Abstract
1,091,285. Television video circuits; demodulators. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 25, 1964, No. 47908/64. Headings H3Q, H3T and H4F. In a switchable video detector and video amplifier circuit, for use in a dual standard television receiver enabling both positive and negative modulated signals to be received, for one standard (e.g. 625) the detector D11 is A.C. coupled to the video amplifier via half the detector load, R1 and is D.C. coupled to the video amplifier by the other half of the detector load, R2 and a resistor R3; which prevents unwanted video frequency signals reaching the amplifier stage, while for the other standard (e.g. 405) the detector is D.C. coupled to the video amplifier by the other half of the detector load R2. The D.C. level is maintained on both standards by having R1 and R2 equal and to ensure the same black level, A.G.C. can be supplied from the cathode of the video valve V 0 . The valve V 0 may be replaced by a transistor, in which case a transistor pre-amplifier stage may be added between the switch SW and V 0 . Intercarrier sound may be obtained from a tuned transformer (T, Fig. 5, not shown) connected to the output of the detector.
