Abstract

1,094,378. Automatic circuit breakers. SQUARE D CO. June 1, 1965 [June 16, 1964], No. 18701/67. Divided out of 1,094,377. Heading H2B. The subject matter of this Specification is identical with that of Specifications 1,094,377, 1,094,379 and 1,094,380 but the claims relate to the electromagnetic tripping device. This comprises a U-shaped core 170 recessed into the base of the moulded case 21 so as to surround the terminal strap 126. The core attracts an armature 166 attached to a vertical rod 164 sliding in an eyelet 167 in strap 166 and through aligned holes in the core 170 and case 21. The upper end of rod 164 is guided in a bracket 142 by a bush 148 threaded to the rod and adjustable to set the operating current. A flange on the bush 148 co-operates with lugs 174 on the trip bar 39 when the armature 166 is attracted, to rotate the bar and release the contacts. The core 170 is secured in the recessed case 21 by a spring 172.
