Abstract

The invention comprises reactive disazo dyes of the formula wherein R and R1 each represent a benzene or naphthalene residue bound in 1,4-position to the azo bridges or to an azo bridge and -NH-bridge and which is free from salt-forming groups in o-position to the said bridges, X represents a halogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group, one of the symbols X1 represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group, and Y represents a heterocyclic or aliphatic-fibre-reactive residue; at least one of the two residues R and R1 must be a sulphonated naphthalene residue. They may be obtained by condensing aminodisazo dyes of the formula with acylating agents which contain a heterocyclic or aliphatic fibre-reactive residue. Numerous heterocyclic and aliphatic fibre-reactive acylating agents are specified. Also halogen atoms in a triazine containing fibre-reactive residue may be replaced by reaction with NH3, or a hydroxy, mercapto or amino compound. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They are useful for dyeing or printing cellulosic materials. The aminodisazo dyes of formula II may be prepared by coupling a diazotized aminomonoazo dye of the formula with a coupling component of the formula R1NH2. The aminomonoazo dyes of formula III may be prepared by coupling the appropriate diazo and coupling components.
