Abstract
1,104,949. Measuring quantity of heat electrically. COMMISSARIAT A L’ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Feb. 17, 1967 [March 24, 1966], No.7733/67. Heading G1N. The quantity of heat to which a person is subjected above a predetermined temperature, e.g. 35‹C., is measured by an electrolytic meter 9, Fig. 2, connected across the diagonal of a Wheatstone bridge 3 including thermistors 7, 8, a thermostat 13 connected in series with a mercury oxide battery 4 preventing operation of the device below temperatures of 35‹C. Although the bridge is arranged to be balanced at an arbitrary temperature, e. g. 29‹C., current flows through the counter only in one direction because of the thermostat. The whole apparatus is arranged in a casing (1), Fig. 1 (not shown) attached to the person by a clip (2), a pointer (16) indicating the quantity of heat measured. To check that the apparatus is operating properly, a light 15 is connected in parallel across the source 4 which is illuminated on manually closing contacts 14 if the temperature is above 35‹C.
