Abstract
1,105,339. Air classifier. WESTFALIA DINNENDAHL GROPPEL A.G. 12 Jan., 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 1740/67. Headings B2H and B2P. An air classifier comprises an air sifter having a sifting space 1 in the lower part of which material to be classified is thrown by means of a scattering plate 5 and sifting air is blown through a distributor 6 via a centrally connected pipe 4 leading from a blower 2, the distributor being provided with one or more air outlet nozzles 6′ directed substantially tangentially to the direction of rotation of the scattering plate 5, and separated fine material being drawn off with air at the periphery of the upper part of the sifting space through suction pipes leading out tangentially into cyclones 3. The air distributor 6 may also be provided at its centre with an air outlet 6″ whose opening can be adjusted by means of a slide 19. The coarse material separated in the space 1 is drawn through an outlet pipe provided with a flap valve 15. The fine material discharges from the cyclones through flap valves 18 while the clean air is returned via a pipe 10 to the blower 2.
