Abstract

Soap contains as a perfume ingredient a compound of formula wherein R1 is H or Me, R2 is Me or Et and A is a benzene or cyclohexane ring.ALSO:Compounds of formula wherein R1 is H or Me, R2 is Me or Et and A is a benzene or cyclohexane ring, are prepared by standard procedures involving Grignard reactions, oxidation and/or reduction. The compounds 2 – methyl – 2 – phenylheptanone – 4, 2 – methyl – 2 – phenylhexanone – 4 and 2 – methyl – 2 – (4 – methylcyclohexyl)hexanone – 4, are claimed per se. Grignard reagents are prepared by reacting 1 – chloro – 2 – methyl – 2 – phenylpropane or 1 – chloro – 2 – methyl – 2 – (4 – methylphenyl) propane with Mg in ethyl n-butyl ether.ALSO:Perfume, odorant or flavour compositions contain compounds of formula wherein R1 is H or Me, R2 is Me or Et and A is a benzene or cyclohexane ring.
