Abstract
1,107,894. Ampoules. ETABLISSEMENT DENTAIRE IVOCLAR. 1 Sept., 1965 [2 Sept., 1964; 29 March, 1965], No. 37393/65. Heading B8C. Two inter-reacting substances are stored in a container divided into two compartments by a thin rupturable foil, the container being in two parts which are telescopically movable together to rupture the foil to thereby allow the substances to mix. In one embodiment, a pulverulent substance is placed in the compartment 1, Fig. 1, and a liquid substance 3 in a foil bag 4, which is held between an apertured insert 2 and a piston or cap 5. To mix the substances the bag is burst by forcing the piston down on to it, the liquid flowing through the aperture in the insert 2 into the compartment 1. To facilitate the bursting of the bag, the lip of the aperture in the insert 2 may be raised, Fig. 2 (not shown), or a prong, Fig. 3 (not shown), may be provided on the insert 2, apertures being arranged round the root of the prong. Alternatively the liquid substance may be contained in an annular bag 3, Fig. 4 (not shown), the insert 2 being omitted and the bag being burst by pressure on the cap 2. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the cap 5 is dished, the liquid 3 being contained in this recess by a foil welded to the cap. The top of the insert is then shaped to form a piston to facilitate breaking of the foil. The container and dividing foil may be made of metal, glass, plastics, gelatine or cellulose, and the inner wall of the container may be coated with wax, lacquer or paraffin or provided with an insert sleeve. The separating foil may be made of the same material as the container or may be made of impregnated paper. The two substances may be phosphoric acid and zinc oxide.
