Abstract
1,107,921. Power and free conveyers. JERVIS B. WEBB CO. 9 May, 1966 [13 May, 1965], No. 20407/66. Heading B7L. A power and free conveyer comprises a vertically movable track section 14 of a duplex carrier support track 10, 12, an I-beam drive track 18 supporting a chain 19 equipped with pushers 20, 66 and 67 for engaging dogs 24, 70 and 71 on a carrier 22, an elevator 32 carrying the track section 14 and vertically movable in tracks 33 on a fixed frame 27-30, a cantilever structure 44-48 connecting the track 14 to the elevator 32, and bends 50, 51 provided in the chain track 18 to clear the cantilever structure 44-47. The elevator 32 is connected by cables 34 to a counter-weighted power unit 36 riding in members 38, and elevator pinions 42 engage racks 40. The chain 19 is guided through the bends 50, 51 by guide wheels 52-55 and roller nests 62. The leading and trailing pushers 66, 67 are engageable successively with the leading and trailing driving dogs 70, 71. When a carrier 22 is on the track 14, it is halted by a stop 74 movable to depress only the leading driving dog 70, the pushers clearing the halted dog 76 because of a rise in the track 18. Interlocking blocking devices 78, 80 prevent a carrier from moving off the end of any of the track sections 10, 12, 14 when the track 14 is not aligned with the sections 10, 12.
