Abstract

1,160,465. E.H.T. generators. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. 12 April, 1967 [25 April, 1966], No. 16905/67. Heading H2F. [Also in Divisions G3 and H3] The deflection circuits 12, 13 of a television receiver are stabilized against supply voltage variations by automatically varying the gains of the respective output tubes 16, 19 in accordance with the variations of the respective retrace pulse amplitudes, the vertical deflection circuit additionally being provided with a stabilized voltage derived from a divider network including a temperature-dependent and a voltage-dependent resistor. In the horizontal deflection circuit 12 a pulse amplitude signal is fed from output transformer 23 through a capacitor 30 to a voltage dependent resistor 29 which acts as a variable efficiency rectifier and, in conjunction with capacitor 30, develops a negative bias voltage across a capacitor 35 which is dependent upon the average amplitude of the retrace pulse. This variable bias is applied to a control grid of the tube 16 through members 31, 32, 33, 22 to automatically vary the gain and so stabilize the image width. The arrangement also stabilizes the rectified high voltage applied to the tube 10 via members 23, 24 by virtue of the aforementioned control of the tube 16.
