Abstract
1,175,311. Frequency discriminators. C. I. T. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS. 1 Jan., 1968 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 175/68. Heading H3A. A circuit for producing different outputs according to whether oscillators 11 and 14 operate at the same frequency or not, comprises squaring circuits 12 and 15 which derive square waves from their respective inputs, a differentiating circuit 16 which produces a short pulse once in each cycle of oscillator 14, two input bistable circuits 13 and 17 supplied with the pulses and with the direct and inverted outputs of the squaring circuit 12, and two output bi-stable circuits 25 which energize an AND gate 18 only when the input frequencies differ. If the input frequencies are the same, one of the input bi-stables will produce a constant zero output (Fig. 2d or 2g, not shown) whilst the other produces a square wave at half the input frequency (Fig. 2e or 2f, not shown). If the frequencies differ there will occasionally be a ONE output from both bi-stables and this causes an output from AND gate 18 operating a relay 27 which may actuate an indicator or a frequency sweep circuit 28. A zero output from bi-stable 13 produces a ONE output from inverter 19a, which output is maintained by an integrating circuit 20a and inverted by unit 24a to provide a zero input to terminal S of output bi-stable 25a. This provides a zero output QIII which closes gate 18, and a ONE output QIII which opens gate 26a to allow any subsequent ONE from bi-stable 13 to change the state of the bi-stable 25a. On the occurrence of such a ONE signal the integrating circuit 20a is rapidly discharged through diode 21a.
