Abstract
1,176,635. Subaqueous structures. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 14 Feb., 1968 [17 March, 1967], No. 7256/68. Heading E1H. An underwater building structure support arrangement comprises a foundation member 10 having an upper supporting surface 12 which is at least partly spherical and which supports building structure 30 in a horizontal position. In the embodiment described a cone shaped opening 24 is formed in the foundation member and a cable 26 supported at the apex of the cone passes through a central aperture 50 formed in the building structure. A cable gripping mechanism 52 forces the structure 30 towards the foundation member which may include cavities such as 19 and 20 and valve controlled apertures 22 to give it buoyancy.
